The vineyard was planted in 1999, near the town of Richmond, North West of Hobart in Tasmania. Northeast facing slopes of dolerite, free draining calcareous, Triassic sandstone subsoils and limestone run through, imparting colour character and texture to the wines.

The valley lies in a rain shadow of the Mount Wellington range to the West. More importantly, the rainfall pattern is ideal, allowing uninterrupted spring flowering.

The vineyard is plated to selected Burgundy clones of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Mature vines are carefully hand pruned ensuring balanced yields and low cropping.
